Premiere: Kyoto Love Hotel - 'Shapes That Bond You'

Frosted synth pop from the rising Irish duo...

It's a long to Tipperary, or so they say, but it's not if you live there

. Because you're already there. Irish two-piece Kyoto Love Hotel hail from Tipperary, and their frosted synth pop melds the future with the personal, a kind of icy electro-scape transformed into a mood board.

Causing a stir over the Irish Sea with their opening flurry of release, the duo - Joe Geaney (Floating Ballroom) and Laura Sheary (formerly of Staring at Lakes) - are ready to try something new.

Brooding but emphatic new single 'Shapes That Bond You' unfurls at its own glacial pace, the undulating synths retaining that jagged analogue quality while removing any lingering warmth.

Sub zero songwriting with a pop appetite, 'Shapes That Bond You' reminds Clash of those early Ladytron cuts, and that's no bad thing - artful, tech-informed, and glamorous in a rather decadent way, we're pretty smitten with this bunch.

With lots more to come in the next 12 months, Kyoto Love Hotel's art-pop ventures are definitely worth tracking down.

It's their first new LP in six years... These New Puritans are set to release new album 'Inside The Rose' on March 22nd. The band began teasing their return during the final weeks of 2018, indicating that something was about to occur. New album 'Inside The Rose' - the group's first in six years - lands shortly, following sessions in Berlin, London, and Southend-on-Sea. Mixed in Los Angeles, it's an ambitious 40 minute return, with the cinematic title track online now. Out on March 22nd, 'Inside The Rose' is accompanied by a new short film allowing fans a glimpse in the process behind the record. London's George Tavern Venue Wins Landmark Ruling

A Deed of Easement will protect the building against noise complaints... London venue The George Tavern has won a landmark ruling. The well-known East London institution was placed under threat by nearby housing developments, and sought to protect themselves from noise complaints. The campaign to save the venue won the support of Sir Ian McKellan and John Cooper Clarke, with the team aiming to win an extremely rare ruling. In a landmark case the George Tavern has become the second venue to win a Deed of Easement bill. The first was Ministry Of Sound, and the bill helps the George Tavern to block noise complaints from newly installed neighbours. Pauline Forster runs the George Tavernm with the case being handled by lawyer Tim Taylor, partner at Foot Anstey.
